Isbreen the Glacier

We ventured “north of north” on a July trip to Jøkelfjord, Norway, about an hour’s drive from the airport in Alta. Venturing to Isbreen the Glacier, a privately owned all-inclusive property with geodesic dome igloo lodging, was a once-in-a-lifetime experience -although I can’t wait to return!

Enjoying 24 hours of daylight, we cruised the fjords, hiked the nearby mountains, and enjoyed Michelin quality meals - 3 times a day! Hosted by Christine, Isbreen the Glacier owner and manager, we were well taken care of. Our dome included a private deck and hot tub on the water’s edge, bathtub with a view, and a lukhha (wool cape) crafted by Sami locals, especially for guests at the property and amenities too numerous to list. We could rave about the sauna in the woods, the quiet walking trails, artic floating, and more, but you’ll just have to come and see for yourself.

Summer brings its own delights, but come in the winter for the Northern Lights and reindeer migration!
